If you’re looking for ways to boost your resume, while learning new skills and having fun, find a summer job. Here are a few tips to help you land that very exciting summer job that interests you.
TEEN LIFE - NAVIANCE

- Start searching online early. Begin thinking about a summer job well before the end of the school year.
- Research the type of job you want, and the experience that goes with it (e.g., an internship, a job in retail, an office or restaurant; an outdoor job, maybe in construction or other physical activity), which may very well be connected to what you want to do in your chosen career following graduation from a postsecondary school.
- Talk to friends, family, and your mentor(s) to see if they know places that are hiring.
- Speak to your principal, school counselor, teachers, and other staff members about opportunities within City Schools as well as other openings.
- Ask your CTE teacher about summer positions connected to your career pathway.
- Apply for a summer job with the Baltimore City’s YouthWorks program.
- YouthWorks matches Baltimore youth between the ages of 14 and 21 with paid jobs.Jobs last for six weeks, from end of June to August.To register for this opportunity:
- Visit https://youthworks.oedworks.com to preregister between January and March.
- Attend a meeting at a YouthWorks office to become certified.
- Check your e-mail for an appointment.
- Show up for work, daily!
