No Acceptance Letters, No Worries
You Still Have Options, Opportunities, and Open Doors!
If you haven’t’ received any acceptance letters or were denied admission to the college, career school, or service academy that you were expecting to attend, all is not lost. You still have options!
Even if you did not receive any acceptance letters the first time around, there’s still hope for other very excellent possibilities.
So, let’s get started on your next move.
First, set up an appointment to speak with your counselor, college advisor, principal, or a teacher. The administrators and staff at your school have helped other students through this and can advise you, also, on what to do next.
You may be advised to take a course of action (or more than one) that’s listed among the following:
Apply to other colleges and/or career schools: Some have late admission policies or rolling (responding to applications as they come in) deadlines.
Get an explanation: Ask an admission officer to explain why you did not get in. Use the information you obtain at this time to improve your future applications.
Appeal the decision: Appealing (that is, asking admission officers to reverse their decision) is an option available only at certain colleges and only under rare circumstances. Talk to your school counselor if you have questions about appealing.
Re-apply: In rare instances, a college, career school, or service academy that has turned you down may allow you to apply a second time during your senior year if your grades or test scores improve dramatically. Contact the school’s admission office to find out if you’ll be eligible under this option.
Transfer: Many students in this situation spend a year or two taking general education courses at a community college, (e.g., Baltimore City Community College or Community College of Baltimore County) and then transfer to a four-year college.
Take Note! Students have across the globe have experienced being rejected by a college, for instance, they were interested in attending. Ultimately, these students were accepted at a good college, career school, or service academy, so don’t lose hope. Stay positive, and remain focused on what it is you want and want dearly! Stay motivated, and you’ll soon get the acceptance response(s) you’ve been waiting for, and don’t even think of giving up when you’ve come this far!
