Where Will Your Journey Take You?
Let’s imagine you are 65 years old and about to be honored as the recipient of a “Lifetime Achievement Award,” and to practice while you’re young for such an event is fun and will have you prepared for that star in the spotlight moment well beforehand. Take a moment and visualize your place in the spotlight. The host or hostess of the Lifetime Achievement Award ceremony will soon speak to you in front of an audience the size of two football fields. In a flash, you have to gather yourself and contemplate each of your successes moments before you’re invited to the stage. What did you do to deserve such an honor? Did you invent something or have a lifelong commitment to a cause? Did you make a name for yourself in Baltimore City and across the nation? Did you get married, have children, and take better than average care of family members? Did you participate in community service? Did you obtain your undergraduate degree and then head straight to graduate school? Did you travel on behalf of the company or organization you worked for and, if yes, to where? Finally, throughout your career, what outstanding achievements did you receive preliminary kudos, accolades, shout outs, plaques, or honors for?
